A Walk in the Woods

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Amiable yet less compelling than any road trip movie starring Robert Redford and Nick Nolte should be, A Walk in the Woods is ultimately a bit too pedestrian.

A Walk in the Woods (2015) | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Max Weiss Baltimore Magazine Darned if the film didn't ultimately work for me. Mostly, it was the fun of seeing these two veteran actors riff off each other. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 12, 2016 Full Review A Walk in the Woods (2015) | Rotten Tomatoes (2) John Anderson America Magazine It's not heavy; it's not wildly significant. But A Walk in the Woods has a redemptive tone, a gentle lesson about aging and limitations and never giving up despite any required climb, uphill or otherwise. Sep 22, 2015 Full Review A Walk in the Woods (2015) | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Mark Kermode Observer (UK) There are a few chuckles along the way, but only the scenery has any real depth. Rated: 3/5 Sep 20, 2015 Full Review A Walk in the Woods (2015) | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Hosea Rupprecht Pauline Center for Media Studies Profound is definitely not a word that can be associated with A Walk in the Woods. Sep 13, 2021 Full Review A Walk in the Woods (2015) | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Won't ever be mentioned in the same breath as any of Redford or Nolte's classic films - it's too silly and too obvious - but watching these two charismatic actors onscreen it's not hard to remember what we liked about them in the first place. Rated: 3/5 Feb 3, 2021 Full Review A Walk in the Woods (2015) | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Mattie Lucas The Dispatch (Lexington, NC) (Redford and Nolte) make tired clichés feel like old friends, taking us on a pleasant stroll through the woods that may not lead anywhere, but we're having such a good time that the destination no longer matters. Chris D Some of the people the duo encounter don't seem realistic, if I'm wrong then I never want to go hiking in America Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Ewan D I was excited to watch the movie, as it is based off the book titled the same.I enjoyed the movie, the actors were suited to their roles and as how I imagined from when I read the book.I must admit, it must be well over a year since I watched the movie, however I still remember the movie well which highlights its success in being both entertaining and unique. It feels nostalgic to think back about the movie, and I suggest reading the book, preferably before watching the movie. The key point that I want to make clear in this review is that the movie lacked cinematographic shots of nature, particularly of mountains and rivers. If this movie featured more of these shots using arial shots and others, the viewer would have been far more immersed, this is what the book captured very well by describing these features. P.S - the book is beautiful and unrivalled. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/16/24 Full Review 007tribefan B An old concept of a long journey with the geriatric curve. I am a sucker for these kinds of movies: Over the Hill Gang, Last Vegas... Got a couple good belly laughs. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/28/24 Full Review Jonathan H I've enjoyed watching this movie a few times over the years. It's a sweet story about our willingness to travel uncharted territory throughout our lives. It's also about the joy of having a friend there to share in the journey and the struggles. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/25/24 Full Review Walt S A comfortable evening spent watching two great actors in a mediocre movie. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Michael N Its an oddly pleasant movie to watch, like sitting and listening to stories from your grandpa. If you are looking for a good story line and interesting charecter development this isnt it but it you want good back ground noise and the occasional laugh, this isnt so bad Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/12/24 Full Review Read all reviews

Occasionally, Kwapis slips in a shot of scenic splendor as a reminder of where we are.
