What to Dip Sweet Potato Fries In?
So many flavors go well with the savory, sweet, & salty flavor of sweet potato fries. The most popular dips are either spicy, creamy, or salty. Why go with just ketchup when you can have a gourmet dipping sauce?
I find that a combination of one or both of those flavors is key. This is why I created 2 different recipes from scratch.
Ingredients for Sweet Potato Fry Dipping Sauces
To make these yummy recipes, you only need a few staples. These are common ingredients you likely already have in your house. I am sharing 2 recipes, both require just 3 ingredients.
All the flavors go well with sweet potato fries. There is the best sweet and tangy maple mustard sauce. Plus a cool and spicy Siracha sour cream ranch combination that's perfect to dip your sweet potato fries in. Both of these dips have no mayonnaise.
Maple Mustard Dip Ingredients
This maple mustard dipping sauce is sweet, spicy, sticky, & tangy. Here is what you will need to make this recipe.
- Maple syrup - the sweet item that is sticky & great for flavor & clinging to the fries.
- Whole-grain mustard - a kick of flavor & texture with the mustard seeds.
- Dijon mustard - great spicy flavor & creamy texture.

How to Make the Homemade Dipping Sauces
Here are the easy steps for making sweet potato fry dipping sauces at home. For each dip, you need to gather the ingredients listed above.
In a small bowl, add the ingredients. Then with a small whisk, whisk to combine until each is smooth and fully incorporated.
Taste test each & adjust flavors to your own personal preference. Make it more spicy or less sweet. The recipes are simple, versatile, & customizable which makes them the best fry dip ever.

Variations & Substitutions
Here are some great recipe variations & ingredient substitutions that can be made.

- Dairy-Free/Vegan - use plant-based mayo instead of sour cream
- Maple Syrup - use honey instead
- Mustards - use your favorite, even mild yellow mustard instead
- Extra Spicy - add 1/16 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to either dip
- Mild - use ½ tablespoon of Sriracha & add ½ tablespoon of ketchup

Storing Dipping Sauces
Both of these dips can be made ahead of time. They store well & safely in the refrigerator in an air-tight container with a lid. It will last for 7 days. I do not recommend freezing either dipping sauce.

Ingredients
Maple Mustard Dip
- 2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 Tablespoons whole grain mustard
- 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
Siracha Ranch Dip
- 4 Tablespoons Sour Cream
- 1 Tablespoon Ranch seasoning mix
- 1 Tablespoon Siracha hot sauce
Instructions
For each dip, get a small mixing bowl ready. In each bowl, place the 3 ingredients needed.
Using a small whisk, mix each bowl separately. Once combined and smooth, taste test.
Adjust for sweetness, spiciness, etc based on your personal preferences.
Serve with sweet potato/french fries, chicken, wings, etc.
The dipping sauces can be stored in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
